Boxer On The Wilderness

The true story of Harry Mallin, a two time Olympic gold medal winning boxer from Hackney Wick inspired the screenplay written by Alexandra Boyd.

The Wilderness is what they called The Hackney Marshes before the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park was built there for the London Olympic Games.

David Beckham, his dad and granddad all played on the football fields built by Arthur Villiers and four fellow Etonians in the early part of the last century. They co-founded The Eton Manor Boys’ club. One of those boys, Harry Mallin, became an Olympic champion, winning gold medals in 1920 and 1924.
