L'Histoire De Nos Petites Morts
In 2011, James turned his hand to the world of Arthouse Cinema, writing the music for European drama ‘L’Histoire de nos Petites Morts’.
Featuring a cast of experienced Swiss, French and British actors, the film is a fresh, heartfelt narrative from writer/director David Chidlow, exploring the intimate complexities of relationships. The story takes place over one tumultuous night in the red light district of Geneva, Switzerland, as a banker and a prostitute meet and share a night unlike any they were expecting or looking for.
James composed and conducted a minimal and delicate score, featuring a string octet, harp, clarinet, flute and a variety of experimental French instruments constructed entirely from glass and crystal. Recorded in London’s iconic Abbey Road Studio 2, the music enhances the personal nature of the drama, whilst amplifying the rich emotional intensity of the film.
