JAMES SEYMOUR BRETT

The Life And Death Of Peter Sellers

In 2004, James was asked to arrange, produce and record all the source music for the Golden Globe Award-winning film ‘The Life and Death of Peter Sellers’, starring Geoffrey Rush.

The movie, also nominated for the 2004 Palme d’Or at Cannes, portrays comedian Peter Sellers – a complex and tormented genius – whose success as a film star concealed his difficult and relatively unhappy private life.

James provided a series of period pieces in various genres and styles to accompany Sellers’ story. They range from full-scale big band to smaller groups performing classics such as ‘The Pink Panther’, ‘Fly Me to the Moon’, and ‘Dream a Little Dream, amongst others. These impressive renditions helped contribute to the film’s definitive soundtrack, which also featured songs by David Bowie, Burt Bacharach and Marvin Gaye.
